So, you’re considering a life-changing bariatric surgery journey in Turkey, but the swirling questions about costs have you feeling a tad lost? Well, you don’t have to worry anymore, we’ve got you covered! This guide unveils the mysteries of bariatric surgery costs in Turkey, shedding light on those confusing price tags and ensuring you embark on your journey with your eyes wide open. It is no wonder that Turkey is one of the most famous countries to get cosmetic procedures in. It has some of the best doctors in the world along with cutting-edge tools and technologies. Not only that, even the price tag is a lot more affordable than in other countries.

What is the cost of a sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass?

  • Sleeve Gastrectomy: Brace yourself for a pleasant surprise – this life-changing procedure starts at a mere $3,000. That’s a fraction of the hefty price tag it carries in other countries, making your dream a tangible reality.
  • Gastric Bypass: While slightly more intricate, the gastric bypass still shines with affordability, starting at $5,000. Remember, these are starting points, and the final cost might waltz a little depending on individual needs and the chosen clinic.

What is included in the cost of bariatric surgery?

Rest assured, your hard-earned dollars won’t vanish into thin air. These all-inclusive packages typically embrace:

  • Pre-operative consultations and tests
  • The surgery itself, performed by our skilled and experienced bariatric surgeons

  • Dietary guidance and support

What is included in the cost of bariatric surgery?

Remember, every journey has its detours. Here are some additional expenses to consider:

  • Travel: Flights, accommodation, and ground transportation.
  • Medication: Post-operative prescriptions and supplements.
  • Dietary Support: Consultations with nutritionists for personalized meal plans.

Why does the gastric bypass cost more than the sleeve gastrectomy?

The gastric bypass takes a slightly more elaborate detour in your digestive system, hence the higher price tag. Think of it as an extra “scenic route” that helps with malabsorption and leads to greater weight loss in some cases. But remember, both procedures are powerful tools, and the choice depends on your unique needs and goals and what your surgeon thinks is right for you.

Can public healthcare or insurance cover this surgery for me at your private clinic?

While Turkish public healthcare doesn’t currently cover bariatric surgery in private clinics, some insurance companies might offer partial coverage. It’s best to reach out to your provider and explore your options.

What are my payment options?

We understand that affordability is key. Many clinics in Turkey offer flexible payment plans, allowing you to spread the cost over time. Additionally, some medical tourism facilitators can help you navigate financing options.

Why is the cost of surgery in Turkey significantly higher than abroad?

While Turkey offers significantly lower costs than many Western countries, remember, comparing apples to oranges isn’t always fair. Consider factors like:

  • Surgeon Expertise: Choose a board-certified surgeon with extensive experience, regardless of location.
  • Facility Standards: Prioritize modern, accredited hospitals with top-notch technology.
  • Post-operative Support: A strong support system is crucial for long-term success.

In the end, the decision to undergo bariatric surgery is a personal one. While cost is a significant factor, remember to prioritize your health and well-being above all else. Do your research, ask questions, and choose a clinic that resonates with your needs and values.

Gastric sleeve surgery (sleeve gastrectomy)

Gastric sleeve surgery, also known as sleeve gastrectomy, is a surgical weight loss procedure that involves reducing the size of the stomach to help patients lose weight. The procedure is typically performed using laparoscopic surgery, which is minimally invasive and involves making several small incisions in the abdomen.

During the gastric sleeve procedure, a surgeon will insert a laparoscope (a thin, flexible tube with a camera on the end) into one of the incisions to view the inside of the abdomen. They will then use specialized surgical instruments, which are inserted through the other incisions, to cut and remove a portion of the stomach. The remaining portion of the stomach is then stapled closed to create a new, smaller stomach “sleeve” that is roughly the size and shape of a banana. This reduces the amount of food that the patient can eat, leading to weight loss.
